Brewed an IPA and Rob’s Belgian Dubbel- Batches 50 and 51

Centennial Hops for the IPA

So, last night my friend Rob came over and we brewed two beers.  (Note to self:  Brewing two beers on a Friday night is a bit much- do it on a Saturday next time.) We started with the IPA, thinking it would be the easier of the two recipes.  Here’s the recipe we used (inspired …

Tragor’s Brown Ale- Bottled- Batch 49

Tragor's Brown Ale

Oooh, baby!  Got this thing bottled tonight.  Also got to use my new Christmas present! The top part is called an avvinator.  You fill the bowl up with sanitizing solution, use the pump to spray sanitizer into bottles, then hang them on the bottling tree.  Worked great. So, while the kids were doing the bottles, …

Bottled My Stout and Pumpkin Ale- Batches 47 and 48

Pumpkin Ale Beer Label

So, last night I was able to bottle both batches of beer.  Doing it by myself sure takes some time! The Pumpkin Ale is a bit weak in the pumpkin realm.  It could really use more pumpkin presence.  Guess that’s what I get for using a cheap pumpkin and not shopping around for the best …

BJ’s Belgian Ale- Batch 45 bottled

Tonight with the help of my friend Rob, I was finally able to bottle my Belgian BJ’s Millennium Ale clone. Final gravity on that bad boy was 1.022, giving me an alcohol content of 9.45%.  Holy guacamole!  If you don’t count the mead, that’s the strongest beer I’ve brewed. I got 46 regular bottles and …

Belgian Ale- Batch 45

It’s summer.  Have plenty of pale ale, so now time to do something light and tasty.  I’ve been dying to do a Belgian golden/Belgian wit/Belgian whatever with coriander, honey, and other goodies.  So, on that note, I decided it’s time to do a clone recipe of BJ’s Millenium Ale.  But, I decided to change a …

Ruby Hooker and Liberty Pale Ale Bottled- batch 38 and 44

So, for Father’s day I decided it was about time to bottle my pale ale and my mead.  15 gallons of bottling- no problem, right? So, I began with the mead.  5 gallons sitting in the carboy since December and ready to bottle. I transferred the mead to my bottling bucket and took the final …

Liberty Pale Ale (batch 44) and bottling Framboise (batch 43)

Saturday (May 21st), I decided to do two things at once: Brew a 10 gallon batch of beer and bottle my wife’s Framboise.  Well, they don’t call be crazy for nothing. I decided to redo my Liberty Pale Ale, since the first time I did it it was so stinking good.  Alas, I didn’t have …
